Sunday in Cherry Valley

Tom and I had a very nice worship experience at Christ Church Cherry Valley this morning. The people are friendly and the whole service is quite informal. The liturgy uses contemporary language and a little different form, both things I like and hope to use more of in the future. You can see that Jesus went with us, and he too seemed to enjoy the day. The folks at Christ Church appreciated that the folks of Grace had sent him along on sabbatical with me.
As always, Tom is already known for his singing. In fact, he sang the offertory anthem today and did a wonderful job.
One very nice touch was that one of the members flew the American flag on the flag pole in the yard in honor of our Independence Day celebration yesterday. You can see the flag in the picture with the church.
The worship began at 10:00, and since we are an hour earlier in the Atlantic Time Zone, that meant we were worshiping at the same time Grace was holding their worship. So I was thinking of you all and especially of Hal and JoAnn.

  1. HI Jane,

It sounds that all is well with you and Tom. I am enjoying your writing, just as much as your sermons. Attendance at the new summer 9:00 am service was very good at Grace yesterday. We even had a great Fellowship Hour. Rev. Joan was able to meet quite a few people.

Travel well, and know that the whole parish is keepng you and Tom in our hearts and prayers.

    John
